How to Choose a Doubles Partner for Tennis

To enjoy playing doubles, you have to enjoy your partner. Finding a good doubles partner depends on personality, skill level and what you want from the game.

• STEP 1: Get along with your partner from a personality standpoint. This doesn't always mean you have to have the same personalities. Sometimes a quiet person blends best with an enthusiastic type.
• STEP 2: Make sure you can communicate well with your partner, both on and off the court.
• STEP 3: Choose a partner that complements you. For example, a strong server might want to pair up with someone who excels at volleying.
• STEP 4: Try to find someone of an equivalent skill level or close to it.
