Alligator slayer at five
“Holy crap, look at that alligator! Everybody run!” Wouldn’t that be the first thing on someone’s mind when they see a 12-foot, 800-pound alligator. Well, for Simon H., 5, that wasn’t the case. He shot it while his dad tried to get him to run away.
Simon wasn’t afraid at all. He shot the gator just like any other time, when he’s out hunting with his father. He was nonchalant about the whole thing.
He was only five and he wasn’t scared at all. But when Bradford students were asked what they would do, they said that they would either scream, run, or in senior Sara Radulovic’s case, “probably pee, depending on how close I was to it of course. And then I would set up a picnic and we would share tea.”
Simon H. has to be one of the most courageous five year olds in Texas but is there anyone here that would be able to do what he did? Josh Kaczmarek said that he doesn’t know any kids that would stand up to an alligator because “kids are pansies now-a-days.”
To most people that thought of a five year-old killing an alligator is out there. Most parents wouldn’t be very happy to say that their kid killed a 12-foot alligator. Even Simon’s mom isn’t a big fan.
Bradford students aren’t real big on the whole idea of a 5-year-old killing an alligator. “I think that’s one very inappropriate 5 year old!” says Radulovic. Others think its “unreal” and “ridiculous”. While freshman Alivia England says, “He’d be my hero.”
Alligator slaying may seem outrageous, but it actually happened. It has even been done by a kindergartener!
